Round-One Results

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma women's golf team finished Friday's first round of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic in 10th place. The 16-team tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,305-yard University Club in Baton Rouge, La.

The Sooners logged a round-one 315 (+27) and finished the day 18 strokes behind tournament leader and No. 7-ranked LSU (+9). TCU recorded a 12-over and is in second place and Tulane is in third place at +14.

OU freshman Hannah Wood shares the individual lead after the first round, firing a 72 (E) and registering four birdies on the day.

Sixth-year OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said it is exciting to see Wood flourish on the course.

“Hannah is just solid,” Drouin-Luttrell said. “She typically hits a lot of fairways and greens. She's been working hard and it's paying off at the right time for her.”

Freshman Valerie Tanguay logged an 80 (+8) in Friday's round, good enough for a share of 48th place, and sophomore Alexandra Kaui is tied for 61st place at 81 (+9).

Oklahoma freshman Ana Ruiz shot an 82 (+10) and is tied for 71st place, and sophomore Maggie Neece holds 88th place at 89 (+17).

“It was playing tough out there today,” Drouin-Luttrell said. “We played much better on our back nine, and we need to take that as a positive heading into the next two rounds of the tournament.”

Teams will tee off for Saturday's second round at 8:30 a.m. CT from the No. 1 and No. 10 holes. Live stats are available at GolfStat.com.
