NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma women's golf team travels to Mesa, Ariz., this weekend for the 15-team Clover Cup. The three-day tournament will be played Friday – Sunday (March 13-15) at the par-72, 6,184-yard Longbow Golf Club.

The Sooners, who start four freshmen in their spring lineup, are coming off a tie for sixth place at the season-opening Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ariz. The squad recorded a season-best 10-over-par 874 and finished 23 strokes behind tournament champion and 12th-ranked Tennessee. Freshman Hannah Wood paced the Sooners, tying for a career-best seventh place out of 82 competitors with a 214 (-2).

Sixth-year OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said she is excited to see how her team has improved in the few weeks since its last tournament.

“We're excited to go back to the Clover Cup. We played there a few years back and loved the event,” Drouin-Luttrell said. “We've had some great practices lately and everyone has worked hard on specific areas of their games.”

The Sooners, who are paired with Notre Dame and fellow Big 12 member TCU for the first round, will tee off Friday at 11:30 a.m. CT on the first hole.

Individual - Amanda Johnson, Sophomore: Played as an individual at the Jim West Challenge in the fall and placed 69th … Competed as an individual in the season-opening Schooner Fall Classic and placed 89th … Finished in third place out of 28 competitors at the 2014 OBU Spring Invitational.

Individual – Maggie Neece, Sophomore: Played in all four fall 2014 team events … Tied for 20th place at the Jim West Challenge … Tied for 62nd place at the Alamo Invitational … Recorded a season-best 73 (+1) in the final round of the Alamo Invitational.

OU'S CLOVER CUP HISTORY
The Sooners have had quite the success in their Clover Cup appearances. In 2013, OU won the tournament by 18 shots, registering an 862 (-2). All five Sooner golfers placed in the top 20 of the event, led by 2012 NCAA champion Chirapat Jao-Javanil, who finished in second. OU recorded a second-place finish in 2012, carding an 886 (+22).

THE COURSE
The par-72, 6,184-yard Longbow Golf Club will serve as the host site for the 2015 Clover Cup.

FORMAT
Teams will compete in 54 holes of stroke play over three days (18 holes each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Play begins each day at 10 a.m. CT.
