NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma women's golf team is tied for 10th place after logging a second-round 296 (+8) at the 15-team Alamo Invitational. The event is being played at the par-72, 6,450-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.
The Sooners registered a two-round 599 (+23) and are 20 strokes off the tournament lead held by No. 20-ranked Florida (+3). No. 7 Arkansas is in second with a 585 (+9) and TCU finished round two in third place at 588 (+12).
OU's Hannah Wood leads the team with a 146 (+2) to share 12th place out of 78 competitors. The sophomore birdied the last hole of the second round to finish at 71 (-1) on the day. Wood's Monday round is her seventh par-or-better round of the season.
Classmate Rylee Pedigo added a 75 (+3) in the second round and is tied for 25th place at 149 (+5) heading into Tuesday's final round.
Sophomore Valerie Tanguay shares 47th place with a two-round 153 (+9) after shooting a 75 (+3) in Monday's round, and OU's Ana Ruiz also logged a second-round 75 (+3) to share 57th place with a 155 (+11).
Junior Maggie Neece shot an 84 (+12) on the day and is tied for 73rd place with a 160 (+16).
“We played better today. It's very encouraging to see us improve our score as a team,” seventh-year OU Head Coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. “Hopefully tomorrow we can improve off today's score and end the fall season on a positive note.”
