Washington Finishes 4th at Pan Am Games

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma track and field's Kaelan Washington leaped to a fourth-place finish in the long jump at the Pan American Junior Games in Medellin, Columbia, over the weekend.

Washington finished with a mark of 7.27 meters in his first international competition. Washington, who will begin his sophomore year this upcoming season, managed two legal jumps out of six, with the other going 7.26 meters.

Washington was an All-Big 12 honoree in both the indoor and outdoor long jump his freshman year in 2013, including a third-place finish at the outdoor championship meet after earning a 7.63-meter mark.

The Pan Am Junior Championships were open to qualifying athletes from the Western Hemisphere age 16 to 19 as of December 31, 2013, and have been held every two years since 1980.
