NORMAN, Okla. - Members of the Oklahoma men's and women's track & field teams will travel to meets in Virginia and Kansas during the final week of the regular season before the NCAA West Regional.

Freshman Allen Eke and sophomores Jorian Damen and Brandon Doughty will compete in the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday, May 11.

Eke and Damen will compete in middle distances looking for qualifying times while Doughty hopes to improve a best time of 9:01.15, good for 45th in the West Region in the 3000-meter steeplechase, to ensure a spot in the postseason.

Competing at the Ward Haylett Invitational on Saturday will be freshmen Everette Favor and Tanner Callihan from the men's team and seniors Whitney Johnson and Hilary Krein and freshmen Rachel Bolton and Cessily Jones from the women's squad.

Favor and Callihan will compete in the men's pole vault, Bolton in the women's pole vault, Krein in the middle distances races, Jones in sprints and Johnson in the triple jump, all hoping to earn marks for the NCAA meet.

The list of student-athletes, by event, who have been accepted to compete in each NCAA Regional competition, plus those who have been accepted to compete in the heptathlon or decathlon at the final championships competition, will be announced on Thursday, May 16, by noon CT.

For each individual event, the top 48 declared student-athletes from both the west and east regions will qualify for the two NCAA Regional competitions. For each relay event contested at each of the preliminary championships competition sites, the top 24 declared relay teams will also be accepted.
