NORMAN, Okla. -- The third-ranked Oklahoma women's golf team shot a second-round 293 (+5) Saturday at the Big 12 Championship at the Harvester Golf Club in Rhodes, Iowa, to remain in fifth place with one round to go.

The Sooners improved upon their first-round score by 29 strokes Saturday but still trail first-place Baylor by 10 shots. Iowa State and Oklahoma State are tied for second place, just one shot behind the Lady Bears, while Texas Tech is in fourth place, three strokes in front of OU.

"We played better today and made some putts," said head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell, whose Sooners won last year's Big 12 Championship. "It was encouraging to see our scores improve. I'm proud of the way we hung in there and we just need to stay patient tomorrow."

Junior Anne-Catherine Tanguay paced the Sooners in the second round with a team-best 70 (-2). Tanguay, who eagled the 490-yard par-five fourth hole and also racked up three birdies, improved upon her first-round score by 10 strokes and climbed the leaderboard three spots to sixth place (out of 45 competitors). At 150 (+6), she is eight shots behind leader Lauren Taylor of Baylor.

OU junior Chirapat Jao-Javanil remained in a tie for 15th place after carding a second-round 73 (+1). She is at +10 for the tournament with a 36-hole 154.

Junior Kaitlyn Rohrback fired a 2-over 74 in the second round and dropped six spots to a tie for 21st place. After bogeying three holes and carding one birdie on the front nine, she recorded nine pars on the back side.

Junior Emily Collins and senior Taylor Schmidt each carded a 76 (+4) in the second round. Collins entered the day in ninth place but now stands in a tie for 23rd with a 36-hole total of 156 (+12). Schmidt, who improved upon her first-round score by five strokes, is tied for 26th place.

The final round of the Big 12 Championship will commence Sunday morning, with OU teeing off beginning at 8:50 CT. The Sooners will be paired with TCU and Texas Tech for the final 18 holes. Live stats are available at Golfstat.com.
