PAC 12 CHALLENGE PREVIEW
Facing a quick turnaround from last weekend's Longhorn Invitational win, the University of Oklahoma rowing team travels to Redwood Shores, Calif. to face two top-nine teams at the Pac 12 Challenge March 30-31. The Sooners, receiving votes in the CRCA/US Rowing national poll, will race No. 2 California, No. 9 Stanford and Oregon State.

The Pac 12 Challenge will feature dual races in two varsity eights, a varsity four and one novice eight. The six-team event also features No. 17 Clemson and Northeastern, racing the three Pac 12 schools. On Saturday, OU will compete against the second-ranked Golden Bears from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CT before racing the Beavers from 5-7 p.m. The Sooners and the No. 9 Cardinal race from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CT on Sunday to conclude the weekend.

"We're excited for the opportunity to race against some high level competition this weekend," head coach Leeanne Crain said. "The team has performed well thus far, but we know we need to step it up in order to be competitive with these top programs in California.  We've had a short week of practice but everyone has been extremely focused and we're continuing to make progress every day."

Oklahoma's varsity boats have started the season on a great note and boast a combined 25-2 record in both varsity eights and the two varsity fours. The varsity four and second varsity four are a perfect 7-0 and 6-0, respectively, while the varsity eights are both 6-1. The Sooners have posted wins against Big 12 foes Kansas, Kansas State and Texas in addition to Iowa, Minnesota, Tulsa and San Diego this season.

Oklahoma is coming off a historical win at the Longhorn Invitational and was rewarded with a conference-record two Boat of the Week honors. For the first time in program history, the Sooners won every varsity race in a multi-day competition. The three-day regatta was capped by a four-race sweep of Texas in the varsity events, a first for the OU program in its fifth season.

OU's varsity eight was named the Big 12 Boat of the Week, and the second varsity eight was voted the Conference USA Boat of the Week. Oklahoma became the first team in conference history to earn the weekly award from both the Big 12 and C-USA in the same week.

Results and behind-the-scenes updates and photos from Redwood City will be available on Twitter at @SoonerRowing and Instagram at Instagram.com/OU_Rowing.

BOATS OF THE WEEK
The Sooners have earned all three conference Boat of the Week honors awarded this season, and each award has gone to a different OU boat. Oklahoma is the first program in conference history to earn the weekly accolade from both the Big 12 and Conference USA in the same week, and no other team has won all three conference honors to start the season.
• OU's varsity four claimed this year's first Conference USA award on March 19 after a 3-0 start to the season at the OU Invitational. The Sooners defeated Minnesota, Tulsa and Kansas on the Oklahoma River.
• The second varsity eight was named the C-USA Boat of the Week on March 26 thanks to a perfect weekend at the Longhorn Invitational. They helped OU undefeated in the varsity races and win the regatta in Austin, Texas.
• Oklahoma's varsity eight earned the first Big 12 Boat of the Week on March 27 after the boat went 4-0 at the Longhorn Invite. OU defeated conference rivals Texas and Kansas State as well as Tulsa and San Diego to complete a 15-race sweep of the varsity events.

LAST TIME OUT: LONGHORN INVITATIONAL
• Oklahoma swept Big 12 rival Texas in the varsity finals and won the first Longhorn Invitational team title in convincing fashion March 22-24 on Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas.
• For the first time in program history, the Sooners won every varsity race in a multi-day competition. The three-day regatta was capped by a four-race sweep of the Longhorns in the varsity events, a first for the OU program in its fifth season.
• Oklahoma's varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and second varsity four won all 15 races against Iowa, Kansas State, San Diego, Texas and Tulsa.
• Against Texas in the finals, OU notched its largest winning margin of the weekend in the varsity eight and second-largest victory in the second varsity eight.
• A complete recap from the Longhorn Invitational, including notes and full results, can be found here.

THE SPRING AHEAD
• The Sooners have nearly a month off before they return to the water for the Clemson Invitational on April 20-21 in Clemson, S.C. The race marks the final race of the regular season.
• The Big 12 Championships await the Sooners on May 4 in Kansas City, Kan. After hosting the event last season, OU travels to Lake Wyndotte looking for their first conference championship.
• Also a member of Conference USA, OU will race at the Conference USA Championships on May 18 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Sooners will look to build off a third-place finish at last year's event. The winner receives an automatic bit to the NCAA Championship.
• The season concludes on May 31-June 2 at the NCAA Championship in Indianapolis. The national title races head to Eagle Creek Park for the second time in the 17-year history of the event.

CELEBRATING FIVE SEASONS OF OU ROWING
• The 2012-13 season marks the fifth year rowing has been a Division I sport at Oklahoma. Established in 2008-09, the Sooners have been led by head coach Leeanne Crain since Day One.
• OU's home is the Exchange Boathouse on the Oklahoma River, part of Oklahoma City's Boathouse District. With three boathouses and a new four-story finish line tower, the Boathouse District is one of the world's premiere sites for rowing. The Sooners share their home course on the scenic Oklahoma River with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Center.
• The Sooners compete in both the Big 12 Conference and Conference USA. Big 12 rivals Kansas, Kansas State, Texas and West Virginia also sponsor rowing. Since six teams are needed in a conference to earn an automatic bid in the NCAA Championship, OU will also race for a Conference USA championship against eight other schools, including Kansas, Kansas State, SMU, Tennessee, Texas, Tulsa, UCF and West Virginia.
