NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's golf team is tied for second place with host Florida at the SunTrust Gator Invitational with a two-round 582 (+22) at the 6,074-yard, par-70 Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.

The third-ranked Sooners, who began the day in first place after shooting a first-round 285 (+5) Friday, sit three strokes behind leader Alabama. The tournament features seven teams ranked in Golfweek's top 45, including three squads ranked in the top 10.

"It was a tough day for us," said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. "We made some mistakes early on and had trouble recovering. We need to come out focused tomorrow and do our own thing. Par is a good score out here."

Sitting atop the leaderboard is OU junior Chirapat Jao-Javanil, who fired a 2-under 68 on Saturday to her career-best single-round score. The reigning national champion has posted a 36-hole total of 137 (-3) and holds a three-shot advantage over Portland Rosen of Virginia. Jao-Javanil recorded three birdies and just one bogey in the second round.

Six shots behind Jao-Javanil is fellow junior Anne-Catherine Tanguay, who followed a 69 score on Friday with a 4-over 74 on Saturday to land her in sixth place with a 36-hole total of 143 (+3).

Junior Emily Collins shot an 8-over-par 78 in the second round, giving her a total score of 150 (+10). She is tied for 35th place. Junior Jade Staggs posted a two-round 155 (+15), while senior Taylor Schmidt sits one stroke behind her at 16 over par.
