No. 1 Sooners Headed to Grand Final

SAN DIEGO, Calif.- Oklahoma's varsity eight remained undefeated as it beat out Tulsa, Sacramento State, Western Washington, UC Davis, SMU and Villanova at the San Diego Crew Classic as the event's No. 1 seed advanced to the grand final on Sunday. The novice eight finished second behind Minnesota in its event, while the second varsity eight took fourth place and the varsity four finished sixth.
The Sooners' varsity eight finished the morning with a time of 6:50.730 and will compete in the grand final tomorrow for the Women's Collegiate Varsity SeaWorld Cal Cup tomorrow at 12:20 p.m. CT. The second varsity eight beat Iowa, Alabama and Sacramento State in its event taking fourth place with a time of 6:58.37 to advance to the petite final tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. CT.
The varsity four finished sixth with a time of 8:07.95. The crew faced USC, Stanford, Duke, Tulsa and Sacramento State in the third final Saturday afternoon placing fourth with a time of 7:49.73.
The novice boat finished second with a time of 7:11.6 to advance to the grand final tomorrow at 12:50 p.m. CT.
OU begins racing tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. CT. Oklahoma will be competing for the SeaWorld Cal Cup and the Laurel V. Korholz Perpetual Trophy tomorrow. Last year at the San Diego Crew Classic, Oklahoma's varsity eight defeated No. 11 ranked UCLA in the Jessop-Whittier Cup and the varsity four beat out No. 4 ranked Stanford.
