NORMAN, Okla. -- Keilani Ricketts pitched her second one-hitter in as many games as No. 8/9 Oklahoma defeated LSU, 7-0, Friday night at Marita Hynes Field. The win moved Oklahoma to 11-3 while LSU fell to 9-5 as Ricketts allowed just one hit for the second straight game after doing the same Wednesday night in OU's 4-1 win over North Texas.

In what was slated to be a pitchers duel between two returning All-Americans, Ricketts and the Sooners got the best of LSU's Brittany Mack as she gave up a career-high seven runs while OU batters accumulated seven hits, including multiple home runs for the fourth game this season.

Just as she did on Wednesday night, Ricketts carried a no hitter into the seventh and final inning before LSU got their first hit with an Ashley Langoni one-out single, giving LSU its lowest number of hits this season. Ricketts struck out 13 LSU batters for her seventh double-digit strikeout game of the season and her fourth straight. Over the last four games, Ricketts has 47 of her 105 season strikeouts.

“I thought Keilani threw exceptionally well,” said OU Head Coach Patty Gasso. “The pitcher that we faced is tough and can throw off speed that causes you to have to make adjustments. We worked on game plans at practice this week and I thought we came in well prepared. When she made changes, we made change. We did a good job at battling and I thought we really took some good swings. If I had to change anything, I would have cleaned up our defense a bit so we can get out of innings earlier.”

For the third straight game, Ricketts helped her own cause as she sent a solo shot over the left-center field fence in the bottom of the first inning for a 1-0 Oklahoma lead. The home run was Ricketts third of the season as three of her last five hits have been home runs.

Oklahoma waited until the fifth inning to get their next runs on the board as Jessica Shults singled to get the inning started before Ricketts advanced to first on a walk. A Brittany Williams single to center field sent Callie Parsons, who pinch ran for Shults, home for OU's second run of the game. After back-to-back strikeouts, Katie Norris looped a single to left field that scored Ali Vandever who had come on to run for Ricketts.

The Sooners didn't wait long to add more runs as they put three more on the board in the bottom of the sixth. After an error by Tiger second baseman Cassie Trosclair allowed Destinee Martinez to reach first, Shults singled and moved Martinez into scoring position before a second error by Trosclair sent the sophomore home, Shults to third and Ricketts to first. On the next at bat, Williams sent a shot over the fences of Marita Hynes Field for her fourth home run of the season.and a 7-0 Oklahoma lead.

Oklahoma and LSU return to action Saturday at 4 p.m. at The Preview at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. The Sooners will have back-to-back games at the event as they face Iowa at 6:30 p.m. before hosting the Hawkeyes in Norman Sunday at 11 a.m.
