DENTON, Texas -- Oklahoma ace Keilani Ricketts was one out away from Oklahoma's 33rd no hitter in program history and the first in her career as No. 8/9 Oklahoma defeated North Texas, 4-1, Wednesday night in Denton.

With the win, Oklahoma bounced back from its first two-game losing streak since last year's Women's College World Series and moved to 10-3 on the year while North Texas fell to 5-8. Oklahoma remained undefeated against the North Texas, improving its series lead to 22-0 including a 9-0 record in Denton.

Ricketts was one out away from a perfect game before two walks to UNT batters were issued before she closed out the game with a grounder to short. Ricketts moved to 5-3 on the year as she struck out 14 North Texas batters.

For Ricketts, it was her seventh game of the year and third consecutive game with at least 10 strikeouts. The junior, who broke the Oklahoma career strikeouts record in the second game of the season now has 890 career strikeouts and 92 on the year.

For the second straight game Ricketts helped herself at the plate with a two-run home run in the top of the fourth. After Lauren Chamberlain walked to the lead the inning, Jessica Shults laid down a bunt to send the freshman to second before she advanced to third on a passed ball. On a 2-1 count, Ricketts sent a shot over the left center fence towards I-35 behind Lovelace Stadium for OU's first runs of the game and her second home run of the season.

Oklahoma got on the board again in the top of the sixth as took advantage of two hits and two North Texas' errors to score two more runs. Destinee Martinez led off the inning by reaching first on an error by the Mean Green first baseman. After Chamberlain was hit by a pitch, Shults singled to send Martinez home and Chamberlain to third.

OU had back-to-back RBI singles as Ricketts sent a ball through the left side of the UNT defense to send Chamberlain home for Oklahoma's fourth run of the game. The Sooners were unable to add any more runs in the inning despite loading the bases with one out.

North Texas scored its lone run in the seventh inning Brooke Foster and Lisa Johnson reached on back-to-back two-out walks. Maddelyn Fraley's single broke up Rickett's no hitter as Foster scored on a throwing error charged to Martinez in center field.

Next up for Oklahoma is its home opener on Friday with the first pitch against LSU scheduled for 6 p.m. at Marita Hynes Field. Single game tickets begin at just $5.
