NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma hurdler Eric Bailey was named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) the organization announced Tuesday.

Bailey, a senior from Portland, Ore., earned the honor after a season that saw him finish third in the 400-meter hurdles at the Big 12 Championships while graduating with a bachelor's degree in sociology. Bailey will continue his studies in Norman as he turns his attention to postgraduate studies at the University of Oklahoma. In his three years competing for OU after transferring from Weber State University, Bailey compiled a total of 11 All-Big 12 honors.

Bailey has one more competition as a collegiate athlete remaining as he begins competition in the 400 hurdles at the USA Track and Field Championships Friday night in Eugene, Ore. Bailey finished 12th in the event at last year's USA Championships.
