NORMAN, Okla. — Members of the Oklahoma Track and Field program are in Eugene, Ore., for the NCAA West Preliminary Round to be contested Thursday, May 26, through Saturday, May 28 at Historic Hayward Field. The meet, used for qualification purposes for the NCAA Track and Field Championships, features the top 48 athletes in western portion of the United States in each event along with the top 24 relays in the west.

The top 12 finishers in each event will meet the top 12 finishers from the NCAA East Preliminary Round at the NCAA Championships, June 8-11, in Des Moines, Iowa.

The No. 6 Oklahoma women will send 19 athletes accounting for 25 entries to the meet while the the No. 17 Sooner men boast 14 entries from 12 athletes. The 25 entries from the Oklahoma women is the eighth-best total in the nation and third among Big 12 programs.

Mookie Salaam is OU's lone No. 1 seed in the event as he is the event's top-ranked athlete in the 200-meter dash, an event he leads the nation in. Ti'Anca Mock is No. 2 in the women's long jump while Tia Brooks and Brittany Borman own the No. 3 seed in the shot put and discus, respectively.

Action at the three-day meet begins Thursday morning at 10 a.m. PST with Brittany Borman competing in the javelin.
