COLUMBIA, Mo. - Nicole Hudson drove in Abby Vock on an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th as 14th-ranked Missouri got a second straight extra-inning win over 15th-ranked Oklahoma Sunday afternoon, 1-0. The Tigers moved to 35-5 overall and 9-1 in conference play, while the Sooners fell to 33-13 overall and 6-5 in the Big 12.
Starting pitchers Chelsea Thomas and Keilani Ricketts battled it out for a second straight day with Thomas allowing six hits and one walk while matching her strikeout total from Saturday at 17. Ricketts allowed the one earned run on 12 hits and three walks. She struck out 13.
OU got a bloop two-out single to right from Jessica Shults in the first inning but was unable to capitalize. Missouri retired to the next eight batters before Haley Nix reached on a two-out single in the fourth.
Jenna Marston led off the game for the Tigers with a single but the Sooners got three defensive putouts to end the inning. Catherine Lee led off the second with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After retiring Rhea Taylor on strikeouts, Megan Christopher walked and Vock was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Marston struck out looking to end the inning.
The Tigers went down in order in the third and had a base runner in the fourth thanks to a one-out single by Princess Krebs.
Oklahoma got a runner in scoring position in the fifth as Brittany Williams doubled off the center field wall and moved to third on after Brianna Turang reached on an error but the two were stranded as a line out ended the frame.
Hudson reached on a single and Ashley Fleming on an error in the fifth for the Tigers but were both left on base to end the inning.
Missouri had a prime opportunity to score in the bottom half. Back-to-back singles from Krebs and Taylor put two runners on board and a walk to Christopher loaded the bases.
Vock then reached on an infield hit as Christopher was called out for interference. Ricketts struck out Marston for a second time on the day to end the threat.
Neither team was able to put a run on the board in regulation as the two teams headed to extra innings for a second straight day.
OU got a baserunner to second in the eight but that was as close as the Sooners got to scoring in the extra frames.
After having a runner in on second in the eighth, the Tigers came through in the bottom of the 11th. Vock reached on a single and stole second as Hudson came to the plate with two outs. She delivered a single up the middle to score Vock and give the home team a 1-0 win.
Hudson ended the game 3-for-6, while Krebs went 3-for-4. Vock went 2-for-4. Six different Sooners registered hits on the day.
