CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - UCLA scored three runs in the fourth-inning and got a 5.0 inning performance from an ailing Donna Kerr as the second-ranked Bruins defeated the sixth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners 3-0 Friday evening at the Cathedral City Classic. Oklahoma (11-5) dropped its fourth straight contest.
Kerr pitched for the first time in a week after injuring her right ankle last Saturday. She allowed two hits and two walks, while striking out seven to move to 5-0 on the year. Jessica Hall got her first save of the season, pitching the final 2.0 innings.
Keilani Ricketts (5-2) allowed the three runs on seven hits. She walked three and struck out seven.
Kellie Fox and Alyssa Tiumalu each had two hits and scored one run as pinch runner Sydney Leroux scored another for the Bruins. Katie Schroeder, Hall and Talee Snow were credited with the runs batted in.
Destinee Martinez, Brittany Williams, Haley Nix and Cierra Hughes had all four hits for Oklahoma. The Sooners stranded nine runners and left the bases loaded in the first and left two on twice during the contest.
The Sooners look to turnaround their longest winless streak since 2005 on Saturday at noon CT against Cal Poly. Live stats are available at SoonerSports.com.
