Softball Spends Saturday Meeting Fans

NORMAN, Okla. - The 11th-ranked University of Oklahoma softball team spent Saturday at two Oklahoma City malls meeting and greeting fans prior to the start of the 2010 season. The Sooners signed autographs for two hours each at Quail Springs Mall and Penn Square Mall.

“It's always fun to get out into the community and meet fans and maybe even recruit some new ones,” said sophomore Katie Norris. “It's always joyful to see the excitement on kids' faces as they go through the line.”

In addition to signing autographs, the team handed out the 2010 poster, schedule cards and information on The Preview featuring Bedlam event in Oklahoma City on March 6.

The team has two additional autograph opportunities remaining. The first is this Tuesday evening at the OU men's basketball game against Texas Tech. The squad will also appear at Sooner Mall in Norman on Sunday, Feb. 28 from 2-4 p.m.

OU begins the season this Friday, Feb. 12 in a top-10 showdown against fourth-ranked Michigan at Dot Richardson's National Softball Collegiate Invitational in Clermont, Fla. OU's home opener is slated for Feb. 16 as the Sooners host St. Gregory's at the OU Softball Complex.
