NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma Track and Field program, featuring the No. 9 men and No. 19 women, splits for the second consecutive week as the majority of the squad heads to Fayetteville, Ark., while a men's distance group flies to Seattle, Wash., for the Husky Invitational. On top of those two locations, a small number of non-travelers will remain in Norman for the Oklahoma Christian Invitational III hosted inside OU's Mosier Indoor Facility.
Action at the Tyson Invitational begins Friday at 12 p.m. with the women's 400-meter dash, pole vault and long jump. The meet features 18 of the top-25 men's teams and 13 of the top-25 women's teams inside the Randal Tyson Track Complex.
Sophomore Will Claye is the lone OU defending champion entered in the event as the Bowerman finalist looks to defend his 2009 long jump title. Claye is one of two OU Bowerman finalists competing in the event as hurdler Ronnie Ash competes in the 60-meter hurdles. Both are ranked in the top 10 nationally as is Malcolm Anderson who is eighth in the 60-meter hurdles.
The women's division will see four OU athletes ranked in the top 10 nationally competing as Charlotte Abrahamsen (No. 6 - pentathlon), Scottesha Miller (No. 9 - 200 meter dash), Ti'Anca Mock (No. 8 - long jump) and Karen Shump (No. 6 - shot put) see action.
