NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma Vice President/Athletics Director Joe Castiglione and Head Softball Coach Patty Gasso announced the Sooners' 2011 softball schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The slate features 15 NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago with six opponents among the final eight at the 2010 Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
A total of 19 homes games take place at the OU Softball Complex this season, including conference matchups against Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Baylor, Texas A&M and Iowa State.

“Each year, it's our goal to put together a very competitive and challenging schedule,” said Gasso. “We embrace the opportunity to compete against the best in the country, and we understand how important it is for our team's development. We look forward to preparing for the tough road ahead.”
The Sooners open the 2011 schedule at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. Oklahoma faces Cal State Bakersfield, Appalachian State and Northwestern before its first test of the season with back-to-back games against 2010 NCAA runner-up Arizona and Arizona State. The Sooners close out the event against Western Michigan.
After hosting St. Gregory's at home on Feb. 16, OU travels to the Troy Cox Classic in Las Cruces, N.M. to take on Southern Utah, Sam Houston State, Louisiana-Monroe and host New Mexico State.
The Sooners follow with their first trip to California for the Cathedral City Classic. OU opens with 2010 WCWS participants Georgia and Hawaii on Feb. 24 before closing out with Long Beach State, defending national champion UCLA and Cal Poly.
After a non-conference mid-week contest at North Texas, OU returns home to face Auburn and Illinois-Chicago. The Sooners also face Oklahoma State in a non-conference contest at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium on March 5.
OU then welcomes Tulsa for a second mid-week non-conference game and hosts Indiana, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Missouri State for the Oklahoma Spring Festival March 12-13. The Sooners then compete in their final tournament of the year at the Judi Garman Classic. OU faces Notre Dame, DePaul, Arizona, Penn State, Pacific and Washington at the event.
After traveling to Tulsa on March 23, the Sooners open Big 12 play with a two-game series against Nebraska March 27-29. OU takes on Central Arkansas on March 29. Conference play continues at Texas Tech and Kansas before returning home against Baylor and Oklahoma State. A road trip to Missouri, Texas A&M at home and away games at Oklahoma State and Texas close out the road slate for the Sooners.
Oklahoma hosts North Texas on May 5 and closes out the regular season against Iowa State May 7-8. The Sooners take on the United States National Team May 14-15 at ASA Hall of Stadium as an exhibition contest prior to postseason play.
NCAA Regional action is scheduled for May 20-22 with Super Regional play the following weekend, May 27-29. The 2011 Women's College World Series is scheduled for June 2-8 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
