NORMAN, Okla. — The OU women's track and field team jumped to No. 19 in the latest national ranking provided by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as both the men's and women's programs prepare for this weekend's Big 12 Championships. The women were bolstered by the performance of long jumper Ti'Anca Mock who debuted in the national rankings at No. 2 after breaking a 15-year old program record in the event with a jump of 21-9.50 (6.64) at last Saturday's Sooner Twilight.
Mock is one of two highly ranked jumpers as men's triple jumper Will Claye enters the Big 12 meet ranked No. 1 in the nation with a program record jump of 55-0.75 (16.78). Claye also ranks 10th nationally in the long jump with a distance of 25-6.25 (7.78). Leslie Cole ranks No. 6 in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.25 while the women's 4x100-meter relay of Sherine Wells, Scottesha Miller, Cole and Mock rank seventh with a time of 44.26. Luke Bryant rounds out OU's top 10 athletes in the discus with a throw of 192-1 (58.56).
Three OU athletes hold the top ranking in the Big 12 as Bryant (discus), Claye (triple jump) and Mock (long jump) hold down the top conference spots.
