NORMAN, Okla. — Track and field fans across the nation will have the opportunity to witness the Oklahoma Track and Field experience this weekend as the Sooners head to four different locations across the country. Fayetteville, Ark., Columbus, Ohio and Irvine and Palo Alto, Calif., will all be destinations for OU athletes as they enter the final two weeks of regular season action.
Two groups will be on the West Coast as the men's distance core heads to the campus of Stanford University for the Payton Jordan Invitational and the men's and women's jumps group are at UC-Irvine for the Steve Scott Invitational. Men's sprints will be in Ohio for the Jesse Owens Track Classic while the women's sprints and throwers round out action at the Arkansas Twilight.
Seven Oklahoma athletes enter the weekend ranked in the top 25 nationally, led by freshman phenom Will Claye who is No. 1 in the triple jump and No. 8 in the long jump. Two other freshman, Luke Bryant and Colin Quirke, are ranked No. 8 and No. 19, respectively in the discus while yet another first-year Sooner is in the national rankings as Mookie Salaam comes in at No. 13 in the 200-meter dash.
On the women's side, senior Leslie Cole is ranked fourth nationally in the both the 200- and 400-meter dash while high jumper Katherine Johnson is No. 21 in her event.
