Drouin Inks Strong First Recruiting Class

NORMAN, Okla. - First-year University of Oklahoma women's golf head coach Veronique Drouin announced her first recruiting class Wednesday, a decorated group of four golfers who boast impressive résumés from the high school and junior golf circuits.
Wearing the Crimson and Cream next year will be Emily Collins (Colleyville, Texas), Mariah Montoya (Lubbock, Texas), Chiripat "Ja" Jao-Javanil (Cha-am, Thailand) and Anne-Catherine Tanguay (Quebec City, Quebec, Canada).
"I really wanted to bring some energy to the program with this class and build on the traditions that we have here at the University of Oklahoma," said Drouin, who, like Tanguay, is from Quebec. "We have an opportunity to make a real mark in women's college golf and I'm very excited about our future. These four golfers are all very talented and will be a great addition to the players we currently have on the team."
All four recruits have signed their national letters of intent and will be Oklahoma freshmen in 2010-11.

• 25 career Texas Tour top-10 finishes (including five wins)
• Fourth lowest amateur at 2009 Texas State Open
• Qualified for the 2009 Junior PGA Championship
Drouin on Collins: "Emily has already proven herself as a good player, but I know that she has a lot more potential. I expect for her to improve a lot over the next four years."

• Finished second in 2008 Class 5A state tournament
• Two-Time Class 5A first-team all-state
• Two-Time USGA U.S. Junior Girls participant
• Two-Time USGA U.S. Women's Open sectional qualifier
• Nine Career AJGA top-10 finishes (including a win at the Aldila Junior at Oak Tree in Edmond, Okla.)
• Has shot a competitive low round of 67 three times
• Boasts more than 75 career junior wins

Drouin on Jao-Javanil: "Ja brings an international flavor to the team. Her record shows that she has extensive international experience and she can go low on any given day."

• 2009 Quebec Junior Girls Championship champion
• 2008 and 2009 Royale Cup Canadian Junior Girls Championship runner-up
• Finished seventh at 2008 Royale Cup Canadian Women's Amateur Championship
• Participated in The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship in 2009
Drouin on Tanguay: "Anne-Catherine will bring a new perspective to this team. She is very determined and a hard worker. I expect her to become a leader of this team as early as next year."
