NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma indoor track & field team opens the 2009 season with a trip to Fayetteville, Ark., for Friday's Arkansas Invitational. Seven men and two women will make their OU debut Friday in the event that features seven teams, three of which are from the Big 12 Conference in OU, Kansas and Texas A&M.

Oklahoma is coming off an indoor season in 2008 that saw the men finish sixth in the Big 12 Conference and the women seventh. OU returns two indoor All-Americans in triple jumper Shardae Boutte and sprinter Leslie Cole who claimed the honor in the 400-meter dash. Boutte is also the defending Big 12 champion in the triple jump.

The event is slated to begin with the women's shot put and high jump at 12 p.m. inside the Randal Tyson Track Complex. Oklahoma action begins at 2:15 p.m. as Kevin Schwab and Rob Sorrell take to the track in the prelims of the men's mile.

2009 Arkansas Invitational

The meet marks the first of four meets this season that OU is slated to compete in at Fayetteville.
