NORMAN, Okla. — The majority of the University of Oklahoma track and field program heads east to Fayetteville, Ark., this weekend for the Razorback Invitational while a small group of throwers will remain in Norman for the Oklahoma Christian Invitational inside OU's Mosier Indoor Facility. The two-day Razorback event kicks off Friday inside the Randal Tyson Complex and marks the second trip to Arkansas this season for OU after competing in the Arkansas Invitational on Jan. 9. The meet will feature the largest group of Sooners in competition at the same meet so far this season as 42 Sooners take to the track.
Oklahoma claimed two titles in the earlier meet on the campus of the University of Arkansas as Amanda Mayfield (800-meter run) and the men's distance medley relay each claimed event wins as OU picked up eight top-three finishes.
Both Mayfield, 2:11.75, and the DMR, 9:56.42, currently rank first in the Big 12 with their respective performances. Joining them atop the rankings is junior Jarell Warren who is ranked first in the 600-yard run after winning the event at last weekend's Holiday Inn Invitational with a time of 1:10.76. In all, OU athletes claim seven top-three spots in the early Big 12 rankings.
