NORMAN, Okla. -- A group of eight distance runners, four men and four women, from the University of Oklahoma will head west to Palo Alto, Calif., for this weekend's 2008 Stanford Invitational.  The meet marks the first action of 2008 for three-time All-American Jessica Eldridge who will be running in Saturday's 1,500-meter run.

Eldridge will be joined in the race by fellow seniors Kristi Cook and Catherine Odell along with freshman Kelly Waters.  Cook will also compete in the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run.  Odell is the only Sooner of the group to record any action in the early portion of the 2008 outdoor season, clocking a time of 2:14.02 in the 800 at the Tulsa Duels on March 22.

The men's contingent is comprised of four athletes who have yet to compete outside this year, three of which will compete in their first official outdoor competition as a collegian.  Jacob Boone, Rob Sorrell and Chris Sweeney all will step onto the track in California after redshirting their first outdoor season in 2007.  The trio, who will run in one event apiece, will be joined by this weekend's elder statesman in senior Brayon Brown, who is competing in two events.
