"I give a lot of credit to New Zealand for just not quitting, having a very good second half and continuing to fight," said U.S. head coach Anne Donovan. "After the first half we thought the game was over, but New Zealand didn't believe that. They kept fighting. They certainly made it an interesting game there at the end."

The U.S. led 20-14 at the end of the first quarter and began to pull awar in the second quarter with a 9-0 run. The U.S. led New Zealand 48-22 at the half and 70-31 at the end of the third quarter. New Zealand did not go away without a fight, however, as the outscored the Americans 29 to 8 in the final period.
