Johnson made a 3 and then converted fast-break layup for a three-point play to push the lead to 30. The senior surpassed 2,000 career points, becoming the sixth player in LSU history to reach that milestone.
POSTGAME NOTES
• No. 7 Oklahoma (24-7, 11-5) was downed in the SEC Tournament quarterfinal on Friday, falling to No. 6 LSU, 112-78, in Greenville, S.C. The Sooners now turn their focus to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Selection Committee revealed on March 1 that OU was the No. 12 team (3 seed) in the country and projected to host first- and second-round games of the tournament.
• Despite the result on Friday, Oklahoma's resume boasts 13 wins over NET top-100 teams and six Quad 1 victories on the season. Selection Sunday is set for March 15, but the committee's top-16 teams (host sites) will be released on Saturday, March 14.
• The game had 53 fouls called, 27 on Oklahoma and 26 on the Tigers. Teams also combined for 53 free throws, with OU going 21-of-28. Two Sooners – Raegan Beers and Brooklyn Stewart – fouled out, while OU starters Aaliyah Chavez and Sahara Williams each tallied four fouls.
• The loss snapped OU's seven-game winning streak that dated back to Feb. 12.
• True freshman Aaliyah Chavez led the way with 20 points, her 11th 20-point game of the season. She was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line, surpassing Taylor Robertson's school record of 59 straight makes to set the OU record with 62. She now chases the NCAA record of 75, set by North Dakota State's Michelle Gaislerova, who made 75 in a row from 2018-20. The guard added three assists and two rebounds.
• Sahara Williams finished with 19 points and nine rebounds, one shy of her 11th career double-double. The forward is peaking in March, averaging 14.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game over her last five.
• LSU's 112 points were the most the second most an Oklahoma team has ever allowed (trails Utah's 124 in 2022) and the most ever against a conference opponent. The Tigers shot 53% from the floor, and 54% (13-24) from deep.
• Turnovers proved one of the differences in the game as OU turned it over 22 times as the Tigers scored 35 points off turnovers.
