NORMAN, Okla. -- With the outdoor track and field season quickly approaching, preparations are underway in Norman for the 39th John Jacobs Invitational. The two-day event features top high school and collegiate athletes competing at the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.

EVENTS AND SCHEDULE: The information listed here is tentative. The number of entries will determine the final list of events, time schedule and number of heats.  You will need to check www.SoonerSports.com for updated information.

FIELD EVENTS: Each school is limited to a maximum of three entrants in each of the field events. Also note that the hammer throw will be contested on Friday, April 11.

2008 John Jacobs Information Packet

ENTRY DEADLINE: 5:00 PM (CDT) Monday, April 7, 2008. 

ENTRY FEE:  $25.00 per accepted athlete and $25.00 per accepted relay. The maximum entry fee for a team is $350.00 per team, per gender ($350.00 for women, $350.00 for men). Payment is due at packet pick-up.

ENTRY PROCEDURE: All entries are to be done online with Direct Athletics (www.directathletics.com). ONLY INVITED TEAMS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Phone or faxed entries will not be accepted.

If you do not have an account with Direct Athletics you will need to create one prior to entering the meet.  To create an account with Direct Athletics, visit the website, click the "New Users Click Here" button, and then follow the instructions.

Accepted Entries All accepted entries will be posted on www.SoonerSports.com as soon as possible following the close of entries.

MEET SCHEDULE: The schedule given here is tentative and MAY BE revised.  A final schedule will be posted on www.SoonerSports.com as soon as possible following the close of entries.

PACKETS:  Coaches and athletes may pick up packets in the Mosier Center on Saturday, April 12 beginning at 8:00 am. YOU WILL NEED TO CHECK IN TO BE ABLE TO COMPETE.

MINIMUM MARKS: For the 2008 meet we will be utilizing minimum standards (cut lines) in the throws and horizontal jumps.  These can be found at the end of this packet.

PARKING: Parking is available in the eastern most portion of the Duck Pond parking lot. Enter the lot from Brooks Street and head to the far east end (the end closest to the Duck Pond). A pedestrian gate on the northeast corner of the John Jacobs Track Facility is open to a sidewalk that crosses over to the entryway of the Mosier Indoor Facility. Because of classes on the Norman campus, only cars belonging to spectators and competitors parked in the east end of the lot will not be ticketed.  Access to Brooks Street is possible from north or southbound Jenkins Avenue (the street that runs on the east side of Oklahoma Memorial Stadium). 

TRAINING ROOM: Athletic trainers will be present in the Mosier Center. Requests for use of specific training modalities may be made to our athletic training staff at (405) 325-8001.

IMPLEMENT WEIGH-IN: Weights and Measures will be located in the northwest corner of the Mosier Center. All throwers must have their implements weighed-in at least one hour prior the start of their event.

SPIKES: Spikes must not exceed 1/4". High jumpers may use 3/8" spikes.  Though not required, pyramid spikes are preferred.

RESULTS: Live, as well as final, results will be available on the University of Oklahoma Athletics website - www.SoonerSports.com. In addition, printed results will be available throughout the meet.
