PALM SPRINGS -Susan Ogden's game-winning solo home run in the fifth guided the No. 6 Oklahoma softball team to a 1-0 victory over No. 25 San Diego State.

The OU win snapped the Aztecs nine-game winning streak as San Diego State topped top-10 teams Arizona and Northwestern on Friday but fell to 11-2 after losing to the Sooners.  Oklahoma improved to 11-4 overall and 2-2 in Palm Springs Classic action.

Junior D.J. Mathis pushed her record to 7-1 after throwing a two-hitter.  The lefty was solid as she retired the final eight batters she faced and struck out six in the complete game contest.

"DJ has been a source of consistency throughout the weekend and we have really been feeding off of her performance," head coach Patty Gasso said.  "We need to improve at the plate and get more offensive production, but I really  loved our fight today and I thought our defense was tremendous."

Both teams played strong defense as the Sooners only recorded three hits compared to San Diego State's two.  In addition to Ogden's homer, Jessica Legendre and Traci Dickenson each recorded singles.

The Aztecs only reached base four times in the game and only advanced to second once as Mathis took over the game.

It was a scoreless game until the bottom of the fifth when  Ogden stepped to the plate with one out.  The senior right fielder crushed a solo home run over the left field fence to give OU the 1-0 lead.  It marked Ogden's second homer of the season and the eighth home run for Oklahoma in the Palm Springs Classic.

The Sooners will round out tournament action on Sunday with an 11 a.m. (CT) contest against No. 18 Georgia.
