OU Men's Golf Stands Third in Dallas

DALLAS, Texas — The University of Oklahoma men's golf squad stands third after 36 holes of the Baylor Intercollegiate at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas, Texas. Beating two squads currently ranked in the Golfstat top-10, the Sooners posted a team score of 287 (+3) in Monday's second round, an improvement of 11 shots over their morning round (+14 - 298).

OU was paced by Riley Pumphrey who shares fourth at +1. The freshman rebounded from a tournament-opening 75 with a second-round 68 (-3) at the par-71, 7,068-yard layout.

Two shots behind Pumphrey was fellow freshman Chris Wilson, who carded rounds of 74 and 71 in standing in a tie for eighth with 18 holes to play.

Sophomore Liam Logan rebounded from a first-round 76 with a 72 on Monday afternoon and sits at +6, in a tie for 18th.

Rounding out the OU team scoring were juniors Ben Blundell (73-76) and Eric Durbin (80-76). The pair stand 23rd and 47th, respectively.

“I am happy with today's result as we have put ourselves in position to compete for the team title tomorrow against some very competitive squads,” said head coach Jim Ragan. “While young, this squad is learning how to compete and that bodes well for us as we enter spring play. We look to put together a solid final round tomorrow to build some momentum into the offseason.”

Ranked 31st in the Golfstat rankings, Texas A&M (+9) holds a two shot lead over No. 24 Lamar in the team standings. Fifth-ranked Arkansas stands fourth, three shots behind the Sooners while tournament-host and 10th-ranked Baylor enters Tuesday's action five shots behind Oklahoma in fifth.

Texas A&M's Bronson Burgoon carded rounds of 68 and 71, and holds a two-shot cushion for medalist honors over Andrew Landry of Arkansas.
