Several Sooners will test their mettle against the most famous names in United States track and field at the sport's national championship this week in Indianapolis.
The 2007 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships and Junior Track and Field Championships run June 20-24 at the Michael A. Carroll Track Stadium on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
The U.S. Championships serve as the selection meet for several international meets, including the Pan American Games (July 22-29) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and World Championship of Athletics (Aug. 25-Sept. 2) in Osaka, Japan.
NCAA All-Americans Jessica Eldridge (1500-meter run), Yolanda Goff (100-meter dash), Marcus Pugh (200-meter dash) and Toni Smith (triple jump) are guaranteed to be in the field of those looking to make statements as the Olympic Games loom just one year ahead.

Zach Dawson (400), Jon Grey (5,000/10,000), Scottesha Miller (long jump) and Kevin Snyder (high jump) will compete for junior titles among athletes who are under 20 years of age.
Sooner alums represent the sprints field well as the 2007 U.S. indoor 60-meter champion DaBryan Blanton and Shomari Wilson are entered in the 100.

Sooners Competing Internationally
University of Oklahoma junior Jacobi Mitchell competes in the Bahamian National Athletics Championship June 22-24 in Nassau.
Mitchell is currently the national leader in the 200 and is ranked No. 3 in the 100.
Former Sooners Michael Blackwood, Jerome Douglas, Danny McFarlane and Aldwyn Sappleton are scheduled to compete at the Jamaican National Athletics Championship in Kingston, June 22-24.
McFarlane is Jamaica's No. 2-ranked 400-meter hurdler; Douglas is No. 3 in the triple jump; and Blackwood is No. 4 in the 400-meter dash.
OU junior Sheldon Leith, a native of Jamaica, will not compete due to a hamstring injury suffered at the Midwest Regional. Leith was ranked No.6 nationally in the 110-meter hurdles.
