April 07, 2007 | Track and Field
NORMAN, Okla. Due to inclement weather in the Austin, Texas, area, the University of Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams departed for Norman at 11 a.m. Saturday morning.
Several Sooners were scheduled to participate in Saturday's field events and sprint finals on the track at the 80th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Weather has hindered the Sooners throughout their 2007 track schedule. OU cancelled its participation in its indoor season opener and rescheduled travel to several other meets due to weather problems.
Through Friday, OU has recorded regional qualifying marks in six events with highlights coming from Mitch Henry, who moved from 13th to fourth over the final five events of the decathlon Thursday, and Kevin Bookout, who set a personal record and regional qualifying mark in the discus throw Friday.
OU next hosts the 38th John Jacobs Invitational in Norman Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14.
