SACRAMENTO, Calif.-- University of Oklahoma pole vaulters Chip Heuser and Scott Martin advanced to the final round at the NCAA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships Wednesday afternoon.

Heuser and Martin both cleared 17 feet, 4.50 inches (5.30 meters) to advance to Friday's final round of 12.

Martin breezed through the preliminaries as the Tulsa native cleared three different heights on his first attempts.

Heuser's road was a little more difficult, but just as successful.

The Louisville, Ky., native passed on opening height and needed two attempts on his entry height of 16-10.75 (5.15).  However, he easily cleared 17-4.50 to advance.
