INDIANAPOLIS Add Chip Heuser to the track and field itinerary.
The sophomore pole vaulter was the lone Sooner listed on the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships declaration list released by the NCAA Tuesday who had not automatically qualified through a regional.
He joins fellow All-American pole vaulter Scott Martin, as well as Kevin Bookout (shot put), Tony Francis (110-meter hurdles), Yolanda Goff (women's 100-meter dash) and Dermillo Wise (110-meter hurdles) as Sooners who will compete for national championships.
Heuser was awarded ninth place at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Austin, Texas, last weekend, missing out on a top-five automatic qualifying position, but was one of six athletes to vault 17-feet, five-inches (5.31 meters) the fourth best mark cleared in the competition.

The Louisville, Ky., native will be making his third national championships appearance. Heuser placed fourth at the NCAAs during the 2006 indoor season, earning All-America honors. He finished 14th at the 2004 indoor championships as a freshman at the University of Florida.
While it was happiness for Heuser, it was heartache for senior Jason Stanley, who sees his collegiate career end by one-hundredth of a second.
Stanley's 13.75-second run in the preliminary rounds of the Midwest Regional was not enough to earn an at-large bid for the national championships. The final athlete added to the men's 110-meter hurdles field Tuesday ran 13.74 in his regional race.
The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Sacramento State University begin Wednesday, June 7.
