Backel Seventh After Four Events of Heptathlon

WACO Freshman Amy Backel stands seventh after four events of the women's heptathlon after day one of the 2006 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Baylor University.
Backel recorded her second personal best in the shot put in as many weeks with a throw of 42 feet, 6.75 inches (12.79 meters), placing second in the event.
The Championships continue Saturday, May 13, and end Sunday, May 14.
