NORMAN, Okla. -- As a bonus to Oklahoma softball fans, the staff of SoonerSports.com will provide a weekly glimpse at former players competing in the National Pro Fastpitch league.  Today's installment covers week three of the NPF season for two Sooner alums.  Check back every Wednesday for an updated look at the Sooners in the professional ranks.

After a weekend series against the Stratford Brakettes, the New York Juggernauts moved into a tie for second place with the Chicago Bandits.  Due to the national and elite team trials, Heather Scaglione did not play with the Juggernauts in the series.  With a record of 10-2, the Juggernauts will play Team China Thursday through Sunday in Montville, New Jersey.

Scaglione, as well as another Juggernaut teammate Kaleo Eldredge, was selected to represent the United States on the Elite Team.  The Elite Team consists of 16 players and will begin play on July 2 at the Canada Cup in Surrey, B.C. They will also play in the Inter-Continental Cup in Madrid, Spain July 20-28.   During these tournaments, Scaglione and Eldredge will be absent from Juggernaut games.

The Chicago Bandits had a solid weekend as it shutout Team China in four consecutive games.  It ran the Bandits scoreless streak against the Chinese to 31 innings.   They are currently tied for second place with the New York Juggernauts.

Bandit first baseman and former Sooner All-American Christina Enea struggled at the plate throughout the series.  In the four game series, she had 10 at bats with only one hit, zero runs and zero RBIs.  Her current hitting average is .129.  The Bandits are traveling to play a four-game series against the Arizona Heat this weekend.

Enea was invited to the National Team Tryout Camp along with Scaglione and Kristin Vesely, but turned down the selection due to her professional obligation with the Bandits.

The Texas Thunder also had a successful weekend as they shut out Team Russia and improved their record to 6-2 for the year.

Sooner alum Erin Evans contributed in the success with her strong hitting.  Throughout the weekend, Evans hit .555 with two runs, five hits, and five RBIs.  Her current season batting average is .438.   The Thunder is now on a 13-day road trip where the first stop will a four-game series against the New England Riptide.
