TULSA, Okla.   The No. 13 Oklahoma softball team left its offense in Norman and its Monday night trip to The University of Tulsa resulted in a 2-0 loss to the Golden Hurricane.  Tulsa has won two straight in the series after losing the first 24 meetings in the rivalry.  The loss drops OU to 28-14-1 on the season.

The OU offense was shut out for just the third time in 43 games this season.  The Sooners hit total of three tied a season-low, which OU also set against No. 1 Arizona on March 19.

Tulsa scored a rare first run inning off the Sooners thanks to a Katie Torres double to the right field gap. The Sooners have outscored opponents 29-8 in the first inning this season and had not allowed a score in the first inning since facing No. 1 Arizona on March 19, a span of eight games.  The Wildcats plated three first frame runs in that game.

Box Score

Torres was all the offense TU needed in the first inning but that didn't mean she was done.  Torres hit the first pitch from Kami Keiter (6-7) in the sixth inning deep to left field for her 11th home run of the season.

The Sooners offense was stifled by Tulsa starter Maren Genow.  Genow (13-3) allowed just three hits during the shut out.  The only major threat by OU was a two out triple from Kristin Vesely in the sixth inning.  The other two hits were of the infield variety by freshmen Norrelle Dickson and Stacia Aleman.

OU returns to Big 12 play for the Bedlam rivalry, which renews Thursday at 7 p.m. when the Sooners face the Cowgirls at Oklahoma State.
