Sooners Win Four Events at ESU Relays

EMPORIA, Kan. -- Cicely Williams and David Wright gave the OU track teams a sweep of the hurdles while Cory Crosby in the long jump and the women's 1600-meter relay picked up victories Saturday at the Euler State Farm/ESU Relays.

Williams won the women's 100 with a 14.15 after posting the fastest time in the preliminaries. Wright posted the third best qualifying time then ran the 110-meter hurdles in 14.54.

Crosby won the long jump with a 23-11, then finished second in the triple jump with a 47-11.75. The women's 1600-meter relay won with a 4:02.01.

Sophomore Jennifer Plank recorded a career best on her way to qualifying for the NCAA Regional in the pole vault. Plank cleared 12-7.25 to improve her career best by nearly 18 inches as she finished fourth in the competition.

Kelsey Strecker made her second outdoor meet as a Sooner an impressive one, finishing third in the long jump, sixth in the 400 and seventh in the triple jump.

Originally scheduled to host the John Jacobs Invitational next weekend, the Sooners will travel to the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. The high school portion of the John Jacobs will be held Friday at the Moore High School track complex but the university meet was cancelled as work continues to complete the renovations at the John Jacobs Track.
