A pair of Sooners opened competition in the heptathlon at the Relays earlier Wednesday. Ladonna Moore started strong, finishing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. She finished with a 14.32, good for 934 points. Moore then tied for 12th in the high jump with a 5-3.75 and 759 points. She only took one attempt in the shot put, finishing with a 28-1.5 for 448 points and then did not start the final event of the first day, the 200-meter dash.
Chaundra Allard opened with a 15.37 in the hurdles, scoring 793 points. She cleared 4-11 in the high jump, good for 621 points, and threw the shot 32-9.75, scoring 529 points. She finished the day with a 27.78 in the 200, scoring 648 points. The heptathlon will conclude on Thursday.
Scott Martin and Caleb Turner left for Austin this afternoon. Martin is scheduled to compete in the University/College Men's Division B pole vault Thursday afternoon and Turner will compete in the prelims of the 400-meter intermediate hurdles.
A total of 22 Sooners will leave for Austin on Thursday for competition Friday and Saturday in the Relays. Another 27 Sooners will leave Friday afternoon for the Euler State Farm/Emporia State Relays to be held Saturday in Emporia, Kan.
