Hicks Ends Competition at USATF Senior Nationals

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Jimyria Hicks, who sat out the 2001-02 track season as a redshirt, ran a 24.25 in Saturday's 200-meter dash semifinals. She finished 16th, .60 seconds behind the last qualifier for Sunday's final.

She will have the experience of competing against one of the world's best as the Arlington, Texas, senior was in the same heat as Olympic gold medalist Marion Jones. Jones posted the fastest time in the 200 semis, 22.46, after winning the 100 two hours earlier.

Former Sooner Alesha Peel advanced to the semifinals of the 100-meter hurdles. She ran a 13.44 while competing for PTC Elite TC. The semifinals and finals in the 100 hurdles will be Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore-to-be Lindsey Bourne missed on three attempts at the opening height. The opening height, 11-5.75, was just 3.25 inches less than her season best. She cleared 11-9 in the Big 12 Championships May 19.

Another former Sooner, Shomari Wilson ran a 10.44 in the first round of the men's 100 dash on Friday night to advance to the semifinals. He finished 13th in the semifinals with a 10.36 late Friday night and did not advance to the today's final.

Junior Leslie Dunlap will compete in the women's senior nationals pole vault on Sunday afternoon.

Chaundra Allard began her competition in the heptathlon at the Canadian Senior Nationals Saturday but results had not been posted as of late Saturday night.
