NORMAN, Okla. - Because of the construction in and around the John Jacobs Track and Field Facility, the OU men's and women's track teams have a different schedule this weekend.
The construction forced the cancellation of the Sooner Outdoor, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 27.
Those student-athletes who met the qualifying marks and were invited will travel to the Drake Relays Thursday through Saturday. A final list of those making that trip will be ready on Tuesday.
Those not making the trip to Des Moines, Iowa, will travel south for a quadrangular meet at North Texas on Wednesday. Competing in the one-day meet will be Oklahoma, North Texas, Southern Methodist and Texas-Arlington.
The field events will begin at 2 p.m. in Denton and will run throughout the meet. The running events will begin at 5 p.m. The shortened meet is scheduled to end at 7:20 p.m. with the men's and women's 1600-meter relay. The meet will follow a rolling time schedule and will feature men's and women's races in two relays and eight individual races.
