AUSTIN, Texas -- Junior Bambi Carson was a double winner to lead the Sooner track and field teams at the Texas Invitational Saturday at Mike Myers Stadium.
Carson won the shot put, then threw a career best 165-6 in the discus to take that title as well.
Other Sooner winners included Michael Blackwood, who posted another NCAA provisional qualifying time in winning the 400-meter dash, Aisha Stringer who won the 800-meter run and the women's 400-meter relay.
LaBoris finished second in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a season-best time of 50.61. He finished first among the collegians and dropped his NCAA provisional qualifying time by nearly .50 seconds.
The Sooners did not enter every event as the OU athletes have begun scaling back in preparation for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in two weeks. Neither of OU's 1,600-meter relay competed.
The Sooner pole vaulters stopped in Arlington to compete on Friday in the UTA Open on their way to Austin. Volunteer coach Kurt Hanna won the competition. OU's top finishers were Hal Conover and Chris Westfield, who tied for seventh with a 15-11.
OU will travel to Abilene, Texas, next Saturday for the Abilene Christian Invitational.
