COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Victories by Staneshia Bell, Jennifer Fontenot, Alesha Peel, and Janel Hayes led the Oklahoma Sooners to a victory in the Air Force Track Quadrangular on Saturday. OU edged Colorado State 150-149. CSU won the men's event with 151 points and the Sooner men finished third with 119.

Bell was a double winner for the Sooners, taking the title in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Fontenot won the 400, her third victory of the season in that event, Peel took first the 60-meter hurdles, her second victory this season in her specialty, and Janel Hayes won the long jump for the first time this season.

The Sooner men, while finishing third, had victories from Michael Blackwood in the 400, his third consecutive victory in that event, L'eron George in the 200, Moses Washington in the 800, Joey Scott in the 60-meter hurdles and the MILE- relay which won by nearly nine seconds.

The depth of the Sooner women propelled OU to the win. OU took first through third in the 60-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump. The Sooner men took first through third in the 400-meter dash and first and second in the 60-meter hurdles.

For Bell, her winning time of 7.42 was a school record in the 60-meter dash. She owned the previous record, 7.46, which was set at the Oklahoma Track Classic on Jan. 22, 2000.

OU will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational, Feb. 11-12.
