Facility Records, Qualifying Marks Highlight Oklahoma Track Classic

NORMAN, Okla. -- Florence Ezeh and Libor Charfreitag, both of Southern Methodist, met NCAA Automatic qualifying standards to lead the way in the Oklahoma Track Classic on Saturday. Ezeh had a 66-8 toss in the weight throw in the meet held at the Mosier Indoor Facility. Charfreitag had a throw of 73-6 in the weight throw to beat the automatic standard.

Four athletes set facility records for the Mosier Indoor Facility. They included Christine O'Haeri of Texas A&M with an 8.40 in the 60-meter hurdles (breaking her own record), Natalie Watson of Miami who ran a 2:58.79 in the 1,000-meter run, Ezeh, (breaking her own record set earlier this season), and Kim Collins of Texas Christian in the men's 60-meter dash with a 6.64.

Several other performers met the NCAA provisional mark in their events including O'Haeri and OU's Alesha Peel in the 60-meter hurdles, Collins and Lindel Frater, also of TCU, in the 60-meter dash, Collins in the 200, the Baylor men's mile relay team, Xavier Tison of SMU in the weight throw, Bashir Ramsey of Texas A&M and Kenwood Bell of Northwestern State (La.) in the long jump, Brandon Evans of Texas A&M in the triple jump, and Jason Howard of TCU in the high jump.

For host OU, it was a good meet as well with four Sooner winners -- Staneshia Bell in the 60-meter dash, Bambi Carson in the shot put, Joey Scott in the 60-meter high hurdles, and Michael Blackwood in the 400. The Sooners dominated the men's pole vault with finishers two through six. Four Sooners set indoor school records including Peel in the 60-meter hurdles with an 8.41, Bell with her 7.46 in the 60-meter dash, and Scott in the 60-meter hurdles with an 8.03, Katie Webster set a school record in the weight throw 50-8 1/4 toss.

OU is on the road for three weeks before returning to Norman to host the Oklahoma Indoor on Feb. 19.
