NORMAN, Okla. - Multi-event athletes on the University of Oklahoma track and field team will not be participating in Saturday's Kansas State Pentathlon as originally scheduled.
According to Sooner co-head coach Jill Lancaster, only one athlete was going to the meet and she was slightly injured at last weekend's OU All Comers meet.
Sooner coaches also announced a change in the indoor track and field schedule. The meet at Arkansas, originally scheduled to be a one-day meet on Feb. 12, has now changed to a two-day meet. On Friday, Feb. 11, collegiate teams from Stanford, SMU, Clemson, TCU, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Houston, Georgetown, Texas, OU and Arkansas will compete. On Saturday, the meet will feature marquee athletes. OU athletes scheduled to perform on Saturday include sprinters Michael Blackwood, Moses Washington and Jennifer Fontenot, pole vaulters Michael Westlund, Michael McNamara and Monika Erlach and thrower Katie Webster.
OU's next home meet will be Jan. 22 when the Sooners host the OU Classic. Field events will begin at 10:30 a.m. with running events scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m.
