Jonathan Moore enters his fourth season with the Oklahoma men’s golf program in 2026-27 and his first as head coach after being named the program’s successor to Ryan Hybl following the 2025-26 season.
Moore, the 2006 individual NCAA men’s golf champion, joined Oklahoma’s staff following the conclusion of the 2022-23 season after a successful professional playing career and six years leading the strength, conditioning and development program for the Oklahoma State men's and women's golf programs.
During his three seasons as associate head coach and director of performance in Norman, Moore helped guide the Sooners to three consecutive NCAA Championship appearances, including a return to NCAA match play in 2025.
In his third season, the Sooners won their second straight NCAA Regional championship and posted another top-15 finish at the NCAA Championships. Moore helped lead Oklahoma to two team victories and coached Ryder Cowan and Jase Summy to All-America and All-SEC honors. OU finished the year ranked No. 16 nationally with a 126-71-2 record. At the SEC Championships, the Sooners advanced to match play for the second straight season.
In his second season, Oklahoma captured five team titles — second most in the nation — and finished with a 169-33-4 record, closing the year ranked No. 7 nationally. The Sooners earned a 14th straight NCAA Championship berth after winning the NCAA Amherst Regional and advanced to match play for a nation-leading seventh time since 2016 after placing fifth in stroke play. A nation-best four Sooners earned All-America honors, with Jase Summy and Drew Goodman collecting both All-America and All-SEC recognition, while Ryder Cowan and Clark Van Gaalen (Freshman All-American) earned All-America honorable mention status.
In his first season in Norman, Moore helped guide the Sooners to an NCAA Regional championship and the program’s 13th straight NCAA Championship finals appearance. At the NCAA Championship, Oklahoma finished ninth, the program’s seventh top-10 national finish in eight seasons. Moore helped develop All-Big 12 selection and All-America honoree Ben Lorenz, along with freshman All-American Ryder Cowan. The Sooners won three tournaments, finished runner-up twice and set a Big 12 record with a +34-hole differential at the Big 12 Match Play Championship in the fall.
With Moore on staff, the men's and women's teams at Oklahoma State combined to win four Big 12 championships and one national championship, along with a runner-up finish at the 2021 NCAA Women's Championship. In addition, Moore helped develop 14 All-Americans during his six years in Stillwater.
The Vancouver, Wash., native turned professional after competing in the 2007 Walker Cup, where he eagled the final hole to secure the deciding point for Team USA. He enjoyed a nearly decade-long professional career, winning four times and establishing himself as one of the premier players on the Asian Tour. Following his retirement as a player, he returned to Stillwater as the assistant strength and conditioning coach, working primarily with Cowboy and Cowgirl golf. In addition, he developed golf-specific programs that optimized the physical tools of OSU golfers to create best-in-class performance.
He co-founded the OSU Golf Research, Innovation, and Performance (GRIP) Center. The GRIP program conducts groundbreaking research with Oklahoma State golfers by identifying and measuring variables contributing to player success, including sleep, hydration, strength, power and more. The first-of-its-kind research center has revolutionized the science of amateur golf and provided student-athletes with tools that professional golfers utilize daily to compete at the highest level.
In addition, Moore co-designed the Gray Institute's functional golf system — a certification that has been taught to movement professionals around the world to enhance their ability to rehabilitate and train golfers.
Moore is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a fellow of applied functional science through the Gray Institute.
He is married to Dr. Claire Moore of Cushing, Okla. They have three children, Adelyn, J.T. and Charlotte.
