NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams head west this week for a split weekend in California, competing at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut and the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa from April 15-18.

The Mt. SAC Relays, held at Hilmer Lodge Stadium, will begin Wednesday morning with combined events. Angel Richmore is set to compete in the heptathlon, opening with the 100-meter hurdles at 12 p.m. CT.

Competition in Azusa at Cougar Athletic Stadium will begin for the Sooners on Friday, with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. The bulk of events across both meets will take place Friday and Saturday.

Last time out

Oklahoma is coming off a dominant performance at the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, totaling 21 event titles and four top-10 marks in program history.

Kennedy Stringfellow highlighted the meet with an NCAA-leading mark in the men's long jump, while Kennedy Clarke, Hannah Pfiffner and Connor Jones each posted top-10 program marks. The Sooners also recorded multiple relay victories and a host of outdoor personal bests across both track and field events.

Sooners in the rankings

Oklahoma enters the weekend with several strong national marks. The women's long jump ranks No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings, while the men's high jump and women's pole vault both sit at No. 2. The Sooners also rank No. 5 in the women's long jump.

Individually, Kennedy Stringfellow holds the No. 1 mark in the NCAA in the men's long jump, while Ralford Mullings ranks No. 2 in the discus. Leah Jeruto sits No. 3 in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, and Awakhiwe Ndlovu is No. 7 in the men's triple jump. Hannah Pfiffner ranks No. 8 in the women's high jump, while Tyson Ritz and Domtila Cheruto each hold No. 9 marks in the men's high jump and women's 10,000 meters, respectively.

Run it back

The Sooners are in their second season in the SEC, one of the premier conferences in collegiate track and field. In their inaugural season, Oklahoma captured eight individual conference titles and finished fourth on the women's side at the 2025 SEC Indoor Championship. At the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, the men earned a sixth-place finish, the program's best outdoor nationals result in 28 years.
