NORMAN — Oklahoma Softball assistant coach
Falepolima Steele (née Aviu) was named an assistant coach for the American Samoa Softball Association (ASA). The ASA National team will compete for a spot as a qualifier at the 2028 Olympics.
Steele is in her third season as an assistant coach with OU after spending a season at North Carolina. Prior to that she was on OU's 2022 national championship team as a graduate assistant after a season as a graduate manager with Ole Miss.
Steele was a four-year letterwinner, two-time national champion and 2019 NFCA First Team All-American at OU, finishing her career ranked sixth in games played with 255.
The ASA team is led by former Sooner Samantha Ricketts, now the head coach at Mississippi State. Wisconsin softball associate head coach and pitching coach, Mike Roberts, also serves on the ASA coaching staff.
ASA begins play at The Canada Cup in Surrey, British Columbia July 6-12 and continues at the USA Softball International Cup in Oklahoma City July 28-August 3.
