In its last outing, Oklahoma fell 23-14 at No. 17 Missouri on Thursday night. Despite building an early lead, the Sooners couldn't overcome a skid in the middle weights. Conrad Hendriksen (125), DJ Parker (197) and Juan Mora (285) each recorded ranked victories in the loss.
The Sooners own a pair of signature top-15 wins this season, most recently a 23-18 home victory over No. 13 Northern Iowa on Jan. 31. Oklahoma's first marquee win came Dec. 13, when the Sooners rallied from a 14-6 deficit to defeat No. 12 Rutgers, 19-14, at Jersey Mike's Arena in Piscataway. The victory marked the program's highest-ranked dual win since 2015. Overall, Oklahoma has nine dual victories against Division I opponents this season ā the most under third-year head coach Roger Kish.
Seniors DJ Parker and Juan Mora enter Sunday riding four-dual win streaks. Parker, fresh off a major decision over Missouri two-time NCAA qualifier No. 12 Evan Bates on Thursday, leads the team with 12 bonus-point wins this season. Anchoring the heavyweight spot, Mora has won eight of his last nine bouts dating back to Dec. 13 at Rutgers as he continues his push toward his first NCAA qualification.
In a series that dates back to 1955, Sunday's contest marks the 25th all-time meeting between the Sooners and the Cowboys, with Oklahoma holding an 18-4-2 advantage.
Oklahoma will make its first trip to Laramie, Wyoming, since 2018 this weekend. In last season's meeting in Norman on Nov. 23, 2024, the Sooners won eight of 10 bouts to cruise to a 27-6 victory.
Oklahoma enters the weekend ranked No. 16 nationally by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). Ranked in the NWCA preseason top 25 for the third consecutive year, the Sooners earned their highest starting position since 2021 and have climbed as high as No. 15 this season.
Seven Sooners appeared in the latest individual rankings (Feb. 10) from InterMat, FloWrestling and Open Mat: Conrad Hendriksen (125), Tyler Wells (141), Peyten Kellar (165), Carter Schubert (174), Brian Soldano (184), DJ Parker (197) and Juan Mora (285).
