FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up opening day at the Tyson Invitational on Friday inside the Randal Tyson Track Center. Meanwhile, the Sooners' men's distance squad competed at the Husky Classic in Seattle.
In her Sooner track debut, freshman Domtila Cheruto turned in a standout performance in the championship section of the women's 3,000 meters, placing third with a time of 9:11.60. Her mark ranks No. 4 in OU history and No. 10 in the SEC this season.
Colton Rhodes earned a third-place finish in the men's pole vault, clearing 5.35m (17'6.50").
Keith Griffin III clocked a personal-best 47.29 in the men's 400 meters, while Niqualas Chew posted a 7.37m (24'2.25") leap in the men's long jump to secure a top-10 finish.
In Seattle, Thobias Cheruiyot closed out the day with a personal-best 13:52.71 in the men's 5,000 meters, finishing sixth.
Day two of the Tyson Invitational is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. CT with the women's pole vault. Running events for the Sooners will start with the women's mile at noon CT. Live results are available via Flash Results, and the meet will be broadcast on SEC Network+ beginning at 2 p.m. CT.
Action at the Husky Classic resumes Saturday at approximately 2:10 p.m. CT, where four additional distance runners will compete in various invitational event sections. Live results can be found via PNTFO.
