The Sooners welcome the Falcons to McCasland Field House for their Big 12 home opener on Friday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. CT, before traveling east to face the Mountaineers on Sunday, Jan. 18, at noon CT at Hope Coliseum. All military personnel will receive a free OU-branded challenge coin upon entry. A Touch-a-Truck event featuring the Norman Fire and Police Departments will be held outside the north entrance of McCasland Field House from 6-7:15 p.m. CT. Fans are encouraged to stop by to see the vehicles and meet local first responders before the dual begins.
SOONER QUICK HITTERS
Oklahoma's seven-dual winning streak came to an end in its last outing, as the Sooners fell to No. 5 Oklahoma State, 37-0, in the 190th edition of Bedlam wrestling.
Despite the setback, OU's 7-1 start through eight duals matched the program's best mark since the 2013-14 season. The Sooners' signature win came Dec. 13, when Oklahoma rallied from a 14-6 deficit to defeat No. 12 Rutgers, 19-14, at Jersey Mike's Arena in Piscataway, N.J. The victory marked the program's highest-ranked dual win since 2015.
SERIES HISTORIES
Air Force
Oklahoma holds a 6-0 advantage in the all-time series against Air Force, with the first three duals between the sides taking place between 1969-1972. In last season's meeting in Colorado Springs, the Sooners won nine of 10 bouts to earn a 32-3 victory ā the largest point-differential win against a Big 12 opponent during the Kish era.
West Virginia
In a series that dates back to 1986, Sunday's dual marks the 17th all-time meeting between Oklahoma and West Virginia, with the Sooners holding a 13-3 advantage. In last season's matchup in Norman, the Mountaineers broke a tightly contested dual by winning the final three bouts to secure a 22-13 victory.
SOONERS IN THE RANKINGS
Oklahoma enters its split weekend ranked No. 16 nationally by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). The Sooners, ranked in the NWCA preseason top 25 for the third consecutive year, earned their highest starting position since 2021.
Six Sooners appeared in the latest individual rankings (Jan. 13) from InterMat, FloWrestling and Open Mat:
Conrad Hendriksen (125),
Tyler Wells,
Carter Schubert (174),
Brian Soldano (184),
DJ Parker (197) and
Juan Mora (285).
RUNNING THE GAUNTLET
Oklahoma has positioned itself to face one of the nation's toughest schedules in 2025-26. Beyond its seasonopening road contest at No. 1 and four-time defending national champion Penn State, the Sooners have eight duals scheduled against teams currently ranked in the NWCA Coaches' Top 25 ā five of which will take place on the road. In total, OU will face three top-five opponents, six ranked inside the top 20 and eight in the top 25. The Sooners also competed at the prestigious Cliff Keen Invitational, widely regarded as the premier regular-season tournament in college wrestling.
